Are raccoons dangerous?

If threatened or cornered, raccoons may become very aggressive animals. Coupled with the fact that they are common carriers of rabies, it is clear that raccoons can be dangerous.

Because they are searching for new sources of food and shelter, many homeowners encounter these pests in attics, under decks and in other areas in and around the dwelling. These masked bandits are also a threat to property, causing extensive damage to structures and belongings if left unaddressed.

Why do I have a raccoon problem?

Raccoons are common in both urban and rural areas and take advantage of their close proximity to humans (and their trash). Other available food sources such as dog food and open trash receptacles are the most common reasons to have raccoons.

During the winter months these nocturnal critters will look for a place to nest and commonly use attics when easy access is provided. Once spring arrives, it’s not uncommon to find out your home or building is being used as a nursery for baby raccoons.

How do you get rid of raccoons?

Any attempts to get rid of raccoons should be left to professionals. At EnviroPest, we offer raccoon removal services that will safely rid your home or business of the pest(s). Trapped animals are humanely euthanized as per Division of Wildlife guidelines.
