Commonly people will try to eradicate the bees on their own by spraying the bees with over the counter pest spray and deterrents. These sprays will at most times kill the bees but it will not remove the comb.

Inside the nest honey, eggs and larvae that are present in the walls or ceilings of the structure still exist. This "inactive hive" condition will always cause you further problems such as dripping honey and rotting larvae within the wall or ceiling of the structure. The intense moisture and smell will attract other pests such as mice and rats, roaches, flies and other pests who will feed from the remaining honey bee nest material. Other honeybees will also try to reestablish further colonies if the void and or nest is not sealed or removed properly.
