Anyone who knows anything about modern plague epidemics knows that they are not as rampant as they were in the Middle Ages. They also know that they are most often connected to prairie dogs. But, in a recent report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it wasn't prairie dogs that caused four Colorado residents to come down with the plague. It was a pet dog.
