Protect Your Home From Pests |
For over 30 years the National Pest Management Association has observed April as National Pest Month and this year EnviroPest is helping to celebrate by encouraging homeowners to learn about the risks posed by stinging insects, termites and other pests common to Denver and all of Colorado as well as how to prevent infestations.
“When most people think of pests, they likely think of the ‘ick-factor’ associated with an infestation, but few people consider the serious health and property threats that pests like termites, mosquitoes, cockroaches, rodents and stinging insects can pose,” - Missy Henriksen, vice president of public affairs for the NPMA.
While they may seem harmless and merely a nuisance to have around, carpenter ants and other creepy crawly things can expose a household to disease and serious health conditions including salmonella and asthma attacks, especially in children as well as parasites in pets. Your home is just as susceptible to attack with wood-destroying insects damaging the wooden frame and rodents nesting in walls and gnawing on electrical wires creating conditions that increase the likelihood for fire.
This month we recommend you take time to inspect your home and property for any infestations as well as for any conditions that attract springtime pests. Implementing the following measures will also help you keep insects and rodents where they belong, outside.
- Seal any cracks and crevices around doors, windows and your foundation
- Keep food and other items picked up and counters and floors free from crumbs and edible particles
- Secure trash bins
- Eliminate any standing water that can be removed on your property
- Regularly trim bushes and trees to keep them away from your foundation
At EnviroPest we can help you protect your home from springtime pests such as ants, lady bugs and termites. We are a longtime Denver pest control company who offers highly effective, eco-friendly pest control services for the entire Front Range.
